This Privacy Policy applies to Olive Word, a Bible study application published by Olive Branch Global LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”).
Olive Word is a Bible study application built with your privacy as a priority. We believe your relationship with Scripture is personal, and your data should remain yours.
This policy describes what data the app collects, how it is stored, and your rights regarding that data.
Data We Collect
Olive Word collects different types of data depending on how you use the app.
Data stored locally on your device:
- Reading history and positions (which book and chapter you last read)
- Bookmarks, highlights, and highlight colors
- Notes you create (including rich text content and linked verses)
- Verse art images you create and save
- App settings and preferences (theme, font, notification preferences)
- Reading plan progress
- Daily reading activity (for streak tracking)
- Downloaded Bible translations
Data stored on our servers (when you create an account):
- Account information (email address, display name)
- Synced annotations (bookmarks, highlights, notes, reading positions, reading plans, verse images, sermons, and sermon-related data)
- Subscription status and tier
- AI feature usage counters
How Your Data is Stored
Local data is stored in SQLite databases on your device. Without an account, all data remains entirely on your device and is never transmitted.
If you create an account, your annotations are synced to our cloud servers hosted on Supabase (PostgreSQL databases with row-level security). Only you can access your synced data.
Cloud sync is opt-in. Creating an account enables sync. Without an account, the app functions fully offline and no data leaves your device.
If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data will be permanently deleted.
AI-Powered Features
Olive Word includes AI-powered study tools such as verse explanations, cross-references, word studies, devotionals, and sermon preparation features.
When you use an AI feature, the Bible verse text and your study query are sent to our servers (Supabase Edge Functions), which forward them to Anthropic for AI processing. We do not send your personal information, notes, highlights, or reading history to the AI service.
AI responses are cached locally on your device to avoid repeated requests for the same query.
Free users receive 3 lifetime AI uses to explore features. Premium and Pastor subscribers receive unlimited AI access.
AI-generated content is provided as a study aid and is not guaranteed to be accurate. Please refer to our Terms of Service for more details.
Subscriptions & Payment Data
Subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not directly process or store credit card or payment information.
RevenueCat, our subscription management service, uses an anonymous identifier linked to your app store account to manage subscription status. No personal content is shared with RevenueCat.
Olive Word offers three tiers: Free (core Bible features), Premium (unlimited AI study tools), and Pastor (sermon preparation tools). Core Bible reading, bookmarking, highlighting, and note-taking are free and always will be.
Third-Party Services
Olive Word uses the following third-party services:
Supabase (cloud infrastructure) — Hosts user accounts, synced data, and AI processing functions. Data is stored in the United States with row-level security ensuring only you can access your data.
Anthropic (AI provider) — Bible verse text and study queries are sent to generate AI-powered study content. No personal information (name, email) is included in AI requests. Anthropic does not use your data for model training.
RevenueCat (subscription management) — An anonymous user ID is linked to your App Store or Play Store purchase receipts to manage subscription status. No personal content is shared.
Faith Comes By Hearing / Bible Brain (Bible text and audio) — Book and chapter identifiers are sent to retrieve Bible translations in 1,500+ languages. No personal data is sent. Per FCBH terms, streamed content is not cached locally.
TalkingBibles (voice-only audio) — KJV audio narration provided under permission from TalkingBibles. No personal data is sent.
Sentry (crash reporting) — Anonymous stack traces are sent when the app crashes. No personal data, screenshots, or user content is included in crash reports.
Google and Apple (authentication) — If you sign in with Google or Apple, your email and display name are shared during the sign-in process per standard OAuth protocols. This information is used solely for account creation.
Daily Manna notifications are powered by the local notification system on your device. No push notification server is involved.
Children’s Privacy
Olive Word includes a Kid-Friendly Mode designed for younger readers. This mode is protected by a parental PIN and adjusts the interface for children.
Without an account, the app collects no personal data and is safe for users of all ages, including children under 13, in compliance with COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act).
When signed in, account data is stored on our servers. Children under 13 should not create accounts without parental consent.
International Data Transfers
If you use the App from outside the United States, your account data and synced annotations are transferred to and stored on servers in the United States. By creating an account, you consent to this transfer.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, California, or other jurisdictions with applicable data protection laws (such as GDPR, CCPA, or LGPD), you have additional rights regarding your data, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data. Tracking Technologies
Olive Word does not use cookies, web tracking technologies, or third-party analytics. Crash reports via Sentry use anonymous identifiers tied to your device, not to your personal identity.
Data Retention
Active account data is retained as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, all server-side data is removed within 24 hours.
You can also delete specific data locally at any time:
- Clear Reading History: Available in Settings
- Delete individual bookmarks, highlights, or notes from the Library
- Delete verse art images from the gallery
- Uninstalling the app removes all local data permanently

Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
